Spring Conference 2025: A Successful Event
Our spring conference, Advanced Communication Skills in Pediatric Serious Illness: When Speaking with Compassion Matters, was held on June 11, 2025. It was a fabulous event, featuring amazing speakers, dynamic interactive practice sessions, a compelling parent panel presentation, and opportunities for interdisciplinary networking. Feedback from our 50-plus attendees was overwhelmingly positive.
The participants represented the full spectrum of disciplines in pediatric palliative care and hospice, from a variety of settings, with varied backgrounds and experiences. For many, the breakout sessions were an opportunity to not only practice communication skills, but also to learn from others’ experiences and perspectives. Understanding of the complexities of communication was further enhanced through the stories and insights shared by parents. The impact of difficult conversations on clinicians was also acknowledged and addressed with compassion and strategies to recognize professional grief and enhance resilience.
